Singer Jamie O’Reilly needs a kidney transplant, but is still singing

“It is a shocker – to suddenly have your life turned upside down and inside out by something out of your control.”

My friends. Last July, I was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease. I will need a transplant. This was shocking news from a go-get-em gal who loves life. It’s a scary disease with fatigue as a major symptom. In twelve weeks, I have been seen by a cadre of medical professionals: my GP, nephrologist, hematologist, vascular surgeons, transplant clinicians, psychiatrist, and cardiologist. I am starting dialysis. In spite of this, I continue to sing and sound fine. (I’ve written about this here) https://www.jamieoreilly.com/song-notes-the-house-with-no-one-in-it/

I’ve passed through the first hurdles, and was accepted by the transplant clinic at Northwestern Hospital, Chicago. They told me to reach out to folks for a donor. If you are healthy and 70 or younger, please consider donating a kidney (you have two). Or share this post with others. Our insurance covers donor medical expenses. It requires a one-night stay in the hospital. For more information contact E: Jamiejoanoreilly@gmail.com.
