A Note from Michael
I always got nervous around the beginning of May when I was a kid because you had to get these flower crowns together for the statue of the Virgin Mary. Each student was assigned a day. The Virgin Mary was not about to wear the same flower crown two days in a row. My crowns were always very messy and fell apart while I was carrying them to school. I was always toting things to school and losing them on the way anyway, because you had to go through a kind of slum section of town and that was always exciting and eventful and definitely fostered losing stuff. Imagine walking home from school for lunch for a quick PB&J and then walking back and on the way back you’re trailing flowers. Oh, let’s all be grateful that it’s May but we don’t have get that crown ready for the BVM. Honest, Sister, I had it but I lost it on Langdon Street somewhere around Anthony De Finis’s house.
