Listen to Will Ye Go, Lassie, Go @ J. OReilly Prod
We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;–
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers,
Of the world for ever, it seems
(from Ode, A. O’Shaughnessy)
Dear Friends
Happy St. Patrick’s Day and all. I’m keeping this short…
Here’s a toast to brevity, music, and the rule of three.
Three things. Three shows. The first show: three bands.
Three reasons to come: good cause, good music, good parking.
The second show: third time Anne’s singing at Roots.
Third show is on three dates, April 19, 22, 26.
I am tickled to death that: my artist roster is growing, AND my Irish band from my youth is reuniting next weekend in a concert in honor of my Mom, (who turns 88 next month), AND I am hosting my dear friend Anne Hills in a Roots Salon here, AND writing and rehearsing new material with Michael Smith for our Songs of a Catholic Childhood show in April. (Wait. That’s four things.)

In a heartfelt, hilarious and liberating musical journey. Jamie and Michael, perform a range of stories and songs: from folk songs and hymns to Mary, to pub songs and Leonard Cohen, to a nostalgic tribute to Catholic icons of film. Through this personal and profound portrait of the America of the 40’s, 50s, and 60s– Michael as the oldest of six in the working class Irish/Italian neighborhoods of post WWII New Jersey; Jamie as a Baby-Boomer, and middle kid, in a huge artistic family, in a small Illinois town–they celebrate the wonder of childhood and the wisdom of our years.
